Instructors
Cal-Wood Education Center is seeking energetic, flexible, hard-working, and motivated applicants for an exciting and rewarding Latino family camp instructor position. Instructors are responsible for providing a fun and active experience for latino family groups made up of 8 to 10 families, around 40 people total. Programs are two-day / one-night, on the weekends. Our field instructors enjoy working at a national, state, and county parks, with a team of other motivated individuals passionate about outdoor activities, natural science, and education.
Responsibilities:
Lead a family group of 8-10 people during each park visit. Typical programs are two-day / one-night programs with latino families.
Prepare and organize all material that is going to be needed during the park visit (Cal-Wood can provide materials)
Work two meals and one night program (typically a night hike or campfire, depends on the group) each weekend.
Sleep overnight in your own tent and be available for emergencies.
Qualities and Qualifications:
High level of personal motivation for continued learning, personal responsibility for individual projects, and flexibility are necessary to meet the demands of a dynamic residential work schedule.
Knowledge of outdoor activities.
Be able to work with a team of other motivated and passionate staff to support operations of our Latino Family Camp Programs
Ability to pass background checks.
Ability to hike 1-4 miles daily, lift heavy objects, and maintain a positive attitude outdoors in all weather conditions.
First Aid/CPR knowledge or willingness to get certified required. Wilderness First Aid or Wilderness First Responder (WFR) certifications a plus.
Spanish ability is required.
Must be fully vaccinated
Availability to work during weekends of June, July and August, and one weekend of training during may.
Compensation:
$300/weekend
